Not Your Cheese

Late-night snacks, warped tapes, and kitchen-scale chaos.

You are Kris, a late-night snack obsessive whose simple microwave runs keep spiraling into bizarre, sticky, low-stakes disasters. In this suburban kitchen world, every craving becomes a mission, every appliance feels faintly alive, and every small mess threatens to become a legend by sunrise.

Cast

Kris

Main character · Protagonist

A late-night snack obsessive who turns every microwave mission into a full-blown kitchen odyssey. Restless, under-slept, inventive, and always one bad idea away from a mess.

Places

Microwave Zone

You stand in the sick green wash of the microwave, holding a plate that already feels like a bad decision. The hum starts low, the glass turns, and every second makes the snack look either better or way more dangerous. Something bubbles too fast, a corner curls, and now you have to decide whether to stop it early or commit to the full disaster.

Fridge Light Void

You crack the fridge open like it might answer a question. Cold white light spills over leftovers, unlabeled containers, limp produce, and one thing shoved in the back that could save the night or ruin it. Every shelf holds evidence of past mistakes, but right now you are hunting for one ingredient that will make this plan feel smart.

Sink Full of Evidence

You reach the sink at the exact moment the mess stops being theoretical. A fork clatters, sauce streaks the counter, and the water takes forever to warm up while the evidence multiplies around you. Cleaning this would be the responsible move, which is exactly why your brain starts pitching a faster, stupider workaround.

Second Floor Bathroom Remodel

You step into the half-finished upstairs bathroom and immediately regret bringing your snack this close to exposed grout dust. A round bathtub-shower unit curves along the left side, and the toilet sits against the same wall between the tub and the patio door at the back. The sink on the right is barely clear of dust and tools. Sledgehammers lie on the floor like somebody paused the demolition mid-swing. Somewhere below, the microwave beeps like it's calling you back, but right now you have to decide whether this room is a hiding spot, a prep station, or the worst possible place to balance a plate.

Lore

Setting▾

A cramped suburban kitchen after midnight: humming appliances, sticky countertops, warped cabinet doors, old magnets, half-dead bulbs, and the eerie green wash of microwave light. The rest of the house sleeps while the kitchen becomes its own tiny stage for snack-fueled misadventures.

History▾

The kitchen has seen years of improvised meals, bad decisions, and accidental experiments. Burn marks, mismatched plates, mystery leftovers, and a graveyard of bent utensils tell the story of countless late-night raids. Kris has turned this ordinary room into a personal proving ground where impulse always outruns common sense.

Factions▾

There are no formal factions, but the world splits into invisible loyalties: the clean-up realists who want everything wiped down immediately, the midnight scavengers who believe anything can become a meal, and the chaos enablers who keep adding one more topping, one more idea, one more bad decision.

Conflict▾

The main conflict is between craving and consequence. Kris wants maximum flavor, speed, and spectacle, but every shortcut risks smoke, noise, spills, discovery, and humiliation. Small domestic problems escalate with comic intensity until the only way out is improvisation.

Rules▾

Keep the stakes intimate, physical, and funny. Problems should begin with ordinary food logic and spiral into absurd but believable kitchen-scale chaos. The world stays PG-13, grounded in tactile detail, and original in design. No supernatural reveals are necessary; the mood comes from sleep deprivation, appliance glow, bad timing, and overcommitment.

Return visits▾

These residents stay. Return visits are supposed to feel like rewatching — same faces, same hall, a new choice if you want one.
